In my work, the vessel is an object of containment, protection, or shelter. The mystique and secrets of the interior spaces inspire introspection, evoking images held in memory or encountered in reality. The exterior form of the vessel often contrasts with the inside, resulting in a dichotomy of spirit. Creative influences are derived from landscapes, movements and objects observed in nature, poetry, and random voyages of the imagination. The sculptures are realized by hammering, forming and fabricating sheet copper. Layers of chemicals applied to the metal result in a rich surface coloration. |
